Reformist artists love Western education and have studied in Europe or Japan.Such as Lin Fengmian and Xu Beihong both artists have studied in the early 1920 s in France,they have received the French academic painting education,but also a taste of the rise of modern art in Europe at that time.But the two of them on the spirit of the painting has a different personal differences,such as Xu Beihong belittle and exclusion of European modern art style,and Lin Fengmian is a good absorption and recognition of Western modern art works.Therefore,this study explains the differences between the two artists in terms of techniques and emotional expression by analyzing the form and content of Lin Fengmian and Xu Beihong's works by the artists of the reformists,combining with the age and accepted education of the artists and the two The artist explores and fits the essence of the Eastern and Western painting,and draws the significance of the spread of the new thought on the development and practice of modern Chinese painting.
