Research On Taijiang Miao Ethnic Ancient Song-themed Pictures

As a physical presentation of the artworks created based on ancient songs by the Miao people in Taijiang,Taijiang Miao Ethnic song-themed pictures have served for cultural memorization,language expression,aesthetic appreciation and god worship,and as a physical representation of Miao Ethnic cultural memory,the pictures have built a vivid history of the Miao nationality with the Miao's epic ancient songs.There are unique natural geographical and humanistic ecological environments in Taijiang.While struggling with nature,the Miao people became yearning for a good life,so that the cultural function of ancient song-themed pictures could be dependent on the practical function and firmly inherited.Based on their specific content,this paper divides the Miao Ethnic ancient song-themed pictures into four categories: universal creation,maple life,survival in great calamities,and migration along rivers;refines and summarizes the compositions,modeling techniques and presentation characteristics of the picture elements by analyzing and researching the formal language of the pictures;then sums up the color and composition characteristics of the ancient song-themed pictures;interprets the aesthetic characteristics of Taijiang Ethnic ancient song-themed pictures from the perspective of picture modeling,color and composition;analyzes the Miao cultural connotation contained in the pictures.From the perspective of aesthetic culture,Taijiang Ethnic ancient song-themed pictures are characterized by the beauty of intelligence,beauty of nature,beauty of fullness and beauty of harmony;from the perspective of belief culture,the Miao Ethnic belief culture embodied in the ancient song-themed pictures is still at the stage of primitive animism,at which ancestor worship and totemism still hold a leading position.With the ancient songs as a material library,based on the local socio-ecological environment and their aesthetic interests developed in this environment,by means of realistic description or abstraction,the Miao people in Taijiang create pictures with consummate skills.The exquisite craftsmanship and unique look of the Miao Ethnic ancient song-themed pictures reveal the Miao people's distinctive cultural character,and provide more information for us to deeply understand the Miao Ethnic culture.By studying the Miao Ethnic ancient song-themed pictures,this paper provides a certain reference for future studies.
