Research On Miao Nationality Image Based On "Miao Picture"

"Miao Album" describes the most primitive,systematic and precious historical images of the Southwestern Minorities,during 18th to 19th Century,loaded with their historical and cultural memories,and demonstrated national spirits and aesthetics,including Miao minorities living there.This paper targets "Miao Album" as a study object,tries to observe the images of the "Miao album" characters systematically in figure,clothing trait,appliances,entertainment scene,and sacrificial activities with different features,and explores the overview of the history of ethnic groups,especially the ecological background,life style,ethnic relations,living environment,social organization,religion,artistic value,and aesthetic culture.By using multiplying analysis of the "Miao Album",the paper analyzes the context of the "Miao Album",explains its formation,artistic style and aesthetic proposition,and further explores the possibilities of the classical heritage with the modernapplication,to realize the modern translation and interpretation of traditional culture and ideology.The basic framework of thesis is as follows,In the first part,including Chapter one and two,the paper mainly discusses the cultural implication of the image of the "Miao Album".Chapter one depicts the formation and evolution of the "Miao Album" in macro context,potential motivations and the relationships with Royal Tribute Picture of Qing Dynasty,and its special positions of the "Miao Album",mainly from ethnic customs,regional culture,local complex,literary thoughts,political economic and cultural gene,to find out the theoretical basis from the culture aspects in its formation and development;chapter two makes a statement about "The Version of the 'Miao Album' and Its Interpretation"and outlines the current existing images of the "Miao Album" at home and abroad,from which six reliable "Miao Album" versions are selected to compare and analyze its contents,and makes initial and preliminary speculations on the possible parent,thus explains its texts concerning the Miao Minorities in the "Miao Album".In the second part,including Chapter three and four,The paper mainly analyzes its artistic features.Chapter three is the "Form and Theme Lineage" of the "Miao Album",investigates the law of its formal beauty from its artistic formation,explains its art forms,and its theme pedigree;chapter four is entitled The Beauty of the Image and Its Style,mainly focuses on the dual analysis based on the content and expression of the"Miao Album",to explore its image features under the influence of traditional culture in Chinese painting,and western painting,trying to clarify the content that the picture wants to express culturally.Several typical information of the "Miao Album" is chosen to make interpretation,and the iconology is also employed to tap the unique cultural connotation of the ethnic minorities from the view points of the prototype and symbolic,events and style.In the third part,including Chapter five and conclusion,which discusses its aesthetic function in the "Miao Album".This part mainly describes the image of the folk custom,realistic of the "Miao Album",tries to make a initial analysis of its origin and its development,to dig out its aesthetic proposition and the origin of concepts in the"Miao Album",from the cultural consciousness and aesthetic style.The conclusion part depicts the reconstruction and its position under the Miao aesthetic culture and the relationship between "The Miao Album" and the change of Aesthetic culture of Chinese southwest.In short,the "Miao Album"reflects the art image of Qing Dynasty in southwest minorities.Not only do we pay attention to its historical value,historical textual research,but also to its aesthetic value and artistic style.The paper,based on the history of the "Miao album",mainly discusses the "Miao Album" from the history of art,and focuses on the content and the image background.Thus,besides historical discussion,a picture representation are inserted,that is,to analyze the image of "Miao Album",symbol system in a symbolical world,and investigates the function and significance of image representation.Through this,the paper tries to reveal the world of the signifier and the signified in the southwest minorities,theoretically and culturally,to arrange a vivid symbolic pedigree of the "Miao Album",and expounds deep prototype structure,motif and type of the "Miao Album",to promote the development of the cultural semiotics,image,visual culture,and further helps us to analyze its cultural implications and the great Chinese civilization,including the Miao minorities.
