The Monument Pedigree,the combination of the inscriptions and genealogy,is a kind of rocky genealogy engraving with family information,which can further present and supplement the contents of the traditional paper genealogy,which is a product of the development of China tablet inscription and genealogy culture in a certain stage.As an important ethnic minorities in the southwest frontier in China,Bai is deeply influenced by Han for a long time.Dali Bai Autonomous prefecture as the center of Erhai Lake,is the main district of the Bai inhabited area,and also an important area for the formation and development of culture.Since the Ming Dynasty,Dali region has found a large number of Monument Pedigree literature with Chinese characters,they gradually focus on recording genealogy information.This article mainly surrounding the Bai Monument Pedigree based on the existing publication and the author's investigation since Ming Dynasty in Dali,discusses the quantity,distribution area,the family name,the form,the type and the characteristic and illustrates the value of historical and literature of genealogy data on the study of it through the origin of family names,marriage population,ancestral tombs and so on.As an important genealogy in the development of the Bai family history,the Monument Pedigree summarizes the historical value,literature value and culture value of the Bai nationality's cultural heritage.The author tries to combine the Bai culture and the Monument Pedigree to investigate the evolution,content,form and social function of the Bai nationality,and reveal the family form and regional characteristics,through the collection of Monument Pedigree,providing more information for the study of Bai.
