Cognitive Control Characteristics Of Extrovert And Introvert Personality Individuals

This research addressed the issue of cognitive control characteristics of four i ntrovert and extrovert personality individuals based on different age and emotional state.Participants were 244 middle school students(youth group)and 84 college students(early adult group)who completed questionnaire and experiments.This research was consisted of two studies.Study 1 explored cognitive control characteristics of four introvert and extrovert personality individuals in early adolescence and early adulthood and compared the difference between their cognitive control.Study 2 examined cognitive control characteristics of four introvert and extrovert personality individuals in early adolescence under different emotional states,and compared the difference between their cognitive control.Based on the findings of the two studies,the following results were drawn.First,Four kinds of introvert and extrovert personality individuals in early adolescence tend to use proactive cognitive control mode.Proactive cognitive control ability of st able extrovert personality individuals was significantly higher than the ability of neurotic extrovert,stable introvert and neurotic introvert personality individuals.Reactive cognitive control ability of stable extrovert and stable introvert personality individuals was significantly higher than the ability of neurotic extrovert and neurotic introvert personality individuals.Second,Four kinds of introvert and extrovert personality individuals in early adult individuals tend to use proactive cognitive control mode.Proactive cognitive control ability of s table extrovert and stable introvert personality individuals was significantly higher than the ability of neurotic extrovert and neurotic introvert personality individuals.Reactive cognitive control ability of stable introvert personality individuals was significantly higher than the ability of neurotic introvert personality individuals.Third,Proactive cognitive control ability of stable introvert and neurotic introvert personality individuals was significantly increased from early adolescence to early adulthood.The ability of reactive cognitive control of four kinds of personality individuals was significantly increased from early adolescence to early adulthood.Fourth,Four kinds of introvert and extrovert personality individuals in early adolescence tend to use proactive cognitive control mode in positive emotional state.Reactive cognitive control ability of stable introvert personality individuals was significantly higher than the ability of stable extrovert and neurotic extrovert personality individuals.There was n o significant difference among four kinds of introvert and extrovert personality individuals' proactive cognitive control ability in early adolescence.Fifth,Four kinds of introvert and extrovert personality individuals in early adolescence tend to use proactive cognitive control mode in negative emotional state.Reactive cognitive control ability of stable extrovert and stable introvert personality individuals was significantly higher than the ability of neurotic introvert personality individuals.There was no significant difference among four kinds of introvert and extrovert personality individuals' proactive cognitive control ability in early adolescence.Sixth,Reactive cognitive control ability of stable introvert and neurotic introvert personality individuals in positive emotional state are significantly higher than two kinds of personality individuals in negative emotional state.There was no significant difference in the proactive cognitive control ability of early adolescents in different emotional states.
