| In recent years,there has been heated discussion of issues over child rearing.Many parents start to learn caring methods from parenting books and articles.While learning from the domestic experts on parenting,parents also turn their attention to the foreign experts and their parenting philosophy.This demand has led to the introduction of foreign well-received parenting books to the Chinese book market.Translation of books in this field involves many technical terms and knowledge.Translators need to search for massive amounts of data and materials to ensure the accuracy and coherence in translation.Meanwhile,on account of the intensive study of corpus-based translation,the application of parallel corpus is valued for its improvement to the efficiency and accuracy in translation practice.In view of the above,this report will explore the facilitative role of corpus in English-Chinese translation by using a self-built parallel corpus.The translation project is based on the excerpts from Food Fights,which is dedicated to helping parents cope with the diseases and problems caused by food.After showing the recognition and alignment of language materials in ABBYY FineReader and Tmxmall,the project demonstrates the creation,retrieval and application of parallel corpus by using memoQ and intends to exemplify its influence and significance to translation,hoping to provide insights for future applied research on corpus-based translation.The application of parallel corpus ensures coherent and standard translation of professional expressions.Its naturally-occurring data offers a rich profile of contextual information for translators,which not only facilitates an accurate and thorough understanding of the source text,but also provides exemplar linguistic resources. |
