In the end of 1970s, post-colonialism ideological trend rose. A bunch of post-colony theorists appeared like mushrooms after rain. The most representative figure were Said,Spivak and Homi Bhabha. As the youngest one, Homi Bhabha used the other two theorists’ theories for reference and thinking, especially Said. Bhabha’s theory began with query for Said’s orientalism: it appeared to Said that orientalism was a eastern hegemony construct to the west. The east was only a"the other"under western narration, which completely neglected subjective initiative of the oppressed. Bhabha was dissatisfied about it. He thought that in the post-colonial context, the minority had strong revolt desire, and threated gubernatorial authority through certain discourse strategy.Bhabha put minority problem on the important position, and discussed the dilemma contemporary minority were facing and their revolt strategies. His attention to the minority not only transmitted his appeal to identity, but corresponded with theme of cultural interaction and confrontation in global perspective. This article mainly discusses from the several following parts:The first chapter: trace to the source of Homi Bhabha’s "minority" theory. I sort it out from two aspects: on the one hand, the minority identity of Bhabha himself lays the foundation of his minority perspective; on the other hand, he has affected by many theorists’thoughts. The representatives are: Antonio Gramsci, Foucault, Jacques Lacan,Fanon. I clarify theoretical foundation of Homi Bhabha’s "minority" theory formation by tracing to the source of his theory. The second chapter: summarize "minority" theory. Clarify conceptual framework of"minority",and analyze the main reasons of its key property and formation. Discuss specifically about Naipaul’s minority thought affecting Bhabha through Bhabha’s research for Naipaul’s work. Analyze minority figure in Bhabha’s eyes edgewise. Focus on discussing realistic basis of "minority" theory. Figure out the reason why Bhabha initiated cultural difference instead of multiculturalism. The third chapter: combining the contemprary background of globalization to watch minority’s current situation. Point out minority’s survival predicament: the deficiency of right of narrative and obfuscation of identity. The minority locates in social marginality position. Their right of narrative is encroached on the majority. While their complicated identity makes it hard to attain social sense of identity, being at aphasiac state time and again. Therefore, he clearly referred to several revolt strategies-cultural translation, simulation, minorization. The fourth chapter: apply Bhabha’s "minority" theory to the research of Chinese American literature. Survey Chinese American literature from minority perspective. It presents in two aspects: the first is that from the status of Chinese American literature, although it locating in social marginality position, a lot of writers has already successfully entered American mainstream literature in recent years. Their success indicates that the minority’s improvement in despoiling right of speech has broken the eastern hegemony construct to the west. Secondly, the writing of Chinese American literature to ethnic Chinese has truly restored the living condition of Chinese American. It revealed concretely cultural antagonism caused by cultural difference. The fifth chapter: rethink "minority" theory. Discuss the value and boundedness of his theory from pro and con. Bhabha’s "minority" theory is full of humanistic spirit, according with the trend of era development, in which locates its value. Its boundedness is eclecticism of hybrid and idealism of constructing a world of universal harmony.
