Lu Xun and Liang Shiqiu are undoubtedly two outstanding literary giants both at home and abroad;at the same time they are also famous translators, contributing a lot to the development of China's translation theories. The 20 s and 30 s of the last century witnessed an influential translation dispute between the two scholars which lasted for eight years. In the society they lived in,their views of translation were reasonable in their own terms so the dispute was inevitable.Remarkably, even today the issues involving the nature of translation that they argued about still have not arrived at definite conclusions. However,we can learn a lot from their debate and put the theories learned into translation practice. The postcolonial translation theory serves as a comparatively emerging perspective on translation, combining the translation theories with the postcolonial literary theories based on deconstruction, poly systems, descriptive translation studies, skopos theory and so on.The theory focuses on the fact that there are power gaps between a variety of cultures and therefore equal communication never exists between them. The theory is mainly employed by the Third World to rid their domestic cultures of the cultural bondage imposed by their pre-colonial state in order to establish the status of their culture and make various cultures exchange and communicate equally as much as possible.Homi Bhabha, one of the important representatives of the theory, comes up with his cultural translation in the context of post-colonialism with the resisting concepts of cultural difference,Mimicry,Hybrid, the Third Space and so on.His theory provides a new research perspective for the translation studies under the globalization context. Therefore, this thesis will make a comparative study of Lu Xun's and Liang Shiqiu's views of translation from the perspective of Homi Bhabha's postcolonial translation theory, aiming at both reinforcing the application of post-colonialism to translation studies and obtaining a more comprehensive understanding of the translation achievements of Lu Xun and Liang Shiqiu.Through qualitative study, the author finds that both realizing the culturaldifference,Lu Xun and Liang Shiqiu choose to translate texts of a wide range of areas, themes and times;follow Faithfulness principle to introduce heterogeneous elements.By employing assorted illustrations of Mimicry, they managed to construct the hybrids(their translation texts)of Self culture and Other culture in the Third Space.Their hybrids help resolve the purity of either culture. On the one hand, the Chinese culture has absorbed the useful foreign elements through the hybrids to achieve its development. On the other hand, the hybrids make the authority of western cultures ambivalent, which resists the colonial control culturally to some degree.
