As the chief executive of the supervisory organ in Tang Dynasty, Censors -in-chief are responsible to impeach officials, interrogate the litigation and supervise the rites.Their profession has distinct features. They have their own unique way of thinking and doing things. They can' t get the way of thinking and doing things immediately when they hold the post of Censor-in-chief, but with the development of the cultivation for the characteristics before they are employed. When they are relieved of the post, their characteristics don't disappear immediately , but will be continued. On the whole, they tend to or reflect these characteristics in their general life. Literature, as a kind of ideology, can show the inner thoughts, feelings and ideas of the authors. Their characteristics also have unique presentation in their poems. This paper attempts to explore the unique features. This paper focuses on two main lines: one is the Tang poets who have served as Censor-in-chief, the other one is their poetry. The first line was elaborated from two aspects. The first aspect is the authority and the status of Censors-in-chief.According to the analysis, we can get a preliminary understanding of their occupation characteristics, as well as their lofty political status in Tang Dynasty; The second aspect is the analysis and comprehensive consideration of the Tang poets who have served as Censors-in-chief. First of all, I analyse them from the vertical and horizontal aspects. The aspect of vertical is looking on Tang Censors-in-chief's poems from the angle of the history of literature in chronological order , analysing the poems'characteristics of each period , studying their development and change. The aspect of horizontal is thinking from the subject matter, classifying their poems and summarizing the characteristics of various kinds of poems. Secondly, on the basis of these, contacting Censor-in-chief ' s unique characteristics, I summarize their poems' style. In addition,in their poems, royal poems account for nearly 1/4 of the share,so it is necessary to have a further study on them. Through the research of the number distribution of their royal poems we can find that there are 115 royal poems in the early and glorious time of Tang Dynasty , but only 2 in the middle and late Tang Dynasty . The decline phenomenon is very obvious. The last chapter is the analysis of the phenomenon. Through the analysis of the reasons of the royal poem decline phenomenon in the middle and late Tang Dynasty we can know more about their royal poetry.
