The thesis is a translation report,and the translator took the third chapter Back to Georgia of Jimmy Carter's biography A Full Life Reflection at Ninety as source text to talk about the application of Chesterman's norm theory,it retells what Jimmy Carter did after he left the navy,such as how to manage the farm,as well as other business,and it is also the key part leading to his political career.Fence,the report aims at that the translation can help readers know well about Jimmy Carter's business life,political life and religion faith,and provide more true materials for scholars,expecting to offer valuable practical and theoretical translating experience for other translators?The thesis contains four main parts: the introduction of translation task,the description of translating process and the theory——Chesteman's Translation Norms,case analysis and summary.Andrew Chesterman divided translation norms into expectancy norms,constitutive norms,communication norms and relation norms.Throughout the detailed analysis of the translation from the aspects of sentence structure and language features,including transformation of pronouns between source text and target text,the application of Chinese idioms,reordering the words and sentences,the report focuses on improving the acceptability and accuracy of translation.Besides,the translator practices the relevant translating skills on translation norms.
