Creative writing, starting in the 1930s at the University of Iowa, has been a compulsory course at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in America. There are many books on creative writing. However, there are only a few textbooks on creative writing in China, which are slightly related to the application of digital tools on creative writing. Creative Writing in the Digital Age is the first textbook on creative writing in the digital times, which is introduced by Jiangsu Phoenix Education Publishing House. It has 15 chapters. Translating it is of great significance for improving students' creative writing skills and facilitating creative writing education across China. This project report is based on the translation practice of Chapter 8, which elaborates how to use digital tools to conduct creative practice. This report analyzes the difficulties the translator has encountered during translation process, including translation difficulty at the lexical, syntactical and discourse levels. The report provides translation methods from the lexical, syntactical and discourse levels under the guidance of the skopos theory, like selection of polyseme, conversion of parts of speech, amplification and ellipsis, and adjusting sentence patterns to realize textual cohesion and coherence. It is hoped that this project report can provide reference to creative writing in translation.
