Postmodern writer Kurt Vonnegut always remember this belief, the artist is thereformer of the society. Vonnegut is always a humanist pursuing of free thoughts, he is aflag of American literature and culture. He always comment to all kinds of events of histime , like the world war ?, the sixties and seventies of the Vietnam war, the Koreanwar of the twentieth century, science and technology of the cold war, threat to humansurvival and capitalism's crazy and greed. His works seem to be relaxed, humorous, butacatually discuss serious philosophical problems, and expressed his deep humanistic:concern.Vonnegut 's humanitarian care of postmodern human condition is closely related tohis own life experience and the dramatic life that witnessed the historical events. In hisworks, objectification machine caused people lost dignity and emotion, family membersare apathy because of the lack of communication, people in the world of disorder hasinevitable loneliness science and technology destroy the environment, the essence of capitalism hypocrisy caused social injustice, and frequent war cause society unrest, allthese show us the dilemmas of human survival and development of the post-industrialsociety. However, Vonnegut has not given up, he also actively put forward his own ideasand solutions. By against mechanical, giving play to the role of art,opposing to wars andadvocating mutual care, he constructed a suitable enviorment that tolerate differencesand admit democratic equality, where man and nature can live in harmony.
