Vocational college students are generally poor in English and lack of study enthusiasm and learning efficiency.So it is hard to effectively improve their English learning.In the factors which influence learning achievement,many scholars have paid attention to the students' personality and learning strategies.The previous researches mainly analyzed a factor that affects the learning achievement.And few researchers did the empirical researches that combine the two factors.Therefore,it is necessary for the author to study and explore how the two factors hit the learning achievement.This study employs the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire,Oxford's Strategy Inventory for Language Learning(SILL)and PRETCO-B achievement test and selects 105 freshmen in a Fujian Forestry Vocational College as the research subjects.And then the author puts the obtained data into SPSS and analyzes it through descriptive statistics,correlation analysis and regression equation.The study shows that:1.The middle character occupies a large proportion in the all vocational college subjects,and the proportion of extrovert subjects is larger than that of introvert ones;In the 6 dimensions of Oxford's learning strategies,the subjects frequently use the learning strategies at a medium level.The highest frequency of learning strategies the subjects use is compensation strategy,and memory strategy is the least frequently used strategy;English average score of subjects is low,and the achievement gap among them is big.2.There is no significant correlation between the personality and learning achievement among the subjects.Although there is no significant correlation between personality and cognitive strategies,compensation strategies and metacognitive strategies,there exists significantly positive correlation in memory strategies,affective strategies and social strategies.What's more,the more extroverted personality,the higher the frequent use of memory strategies,affective strategies and social strategies.And there is significantly positive correlation between the 6 dimensions of learning strategies and learning achievement.3.No matter what kind of personality,the main factor that influences English learning achievement is metacognitive strategies,and it has significant predictive power for learning achievement.As for the introvert students,social strategies is secondary factor,for middle character,cognitive strategies is secondary factor,for the extrovert students,memory strategies is secondary factor.This paper provides some reference value and suggestions for the future teaching.The teacher should pay attention to the key role of metacognitive strategies,adopt different teaching methods according to different personality types in order to stimulate students' learning motivation and improve their learning enthusiasm..In terms of personality and learning strategies,there are many factors affecting learning achievement,so the author should devote herself to research and compare the relevant factors and establish the best evaluation program which hasn't been developed in the paper.
