Research On Students’ Autonomous English Learning Of Higher Vocational Medical College

With the development of society, the technology of science and information has been widely used in our lives. Knowledge and information have been the subject of social development. In order to keep pace with the times, teachers should obey the lifelong learning principle, which means self-learning in school education. Higher Vocational Education English teaching basic requirements, which was issued by china, proposes clearly that the teaching goal of vocational colleges is to foster students in vocational colleges to learn English independently.By combining the methods of literature, questionnaire, comparative analysis with the theories of cognitive learning, constructive learning and humanistic learning, this paper will investigate and analyze the current situation of students’self-learning in the vocational medical colleges in China. The following results are got through statistical analysis.1.The current situation of students’autonomous English learning in the vocational medical college is in general autonomous English learning involves four factors, which are learning motivation, metacognitive strategy, cognitive strategy, and social and affective strategy. The results show that the total scores of these four factors are all normally distributed, the mean of learning motivation is above the median, and the means of other three factors are all slightly lower than the median. It can be drawn that both students’learning motivation and learning strategy are need to be further improved.2.There are not significant differences in all aspects of autonomous English learning be tween subjects in different majors, except for the aspect of cognitive strategy(P<0.05).3.There is significant difference in autonomous English learning between males and females, The performance of females in learning motivation, metacognitive strategy, cognitive strategy, and social and affective strategy is better than that of males. the female advantage in physiology is the language learning and expression (P<0.05).4.There is also significant difference in autonomous English learning between students with different English levels before enrollment (P<0.05). The values of high school graduates in these four aspects are all higher than those of the students with the secondary English degree, except for the social and affective stategy.5.There is a more significant difference in all aspects of autonomous English learning between subjects with different levels of parental discipline, from which, it can be seen that the levels of parental discipline play an important part in affecting students’learning (P<0.05).6.There are significant differences in learning motivation and cognitive strategy between subjects with different kinds of personalty(P<0.05).7.There is also significant difference in autonomous English learning situation between subjects with different learning effectiveness. There are also significant differences in learning motivation, metacognitive strategy and cognitive strategy between these subjects (P<0.05). Therefore, different learning environment, teaching condition, teachers and surroundings will influence the students’autonomous learning.This paper analysis several conditions, which influence autonomous English learning. In different major,leaning motivation, metacognitive strategy, social and affective strategy are not significant differences (P>0.05). There is not significant difference in all aspects of students for in love or not (P>0.05). There is not significant difference in all aspects of students live in different place (P>0.05). The social and affective stategy of students with different English levels before enrollment are not significant different (P>0.05). There is not significant difference in all aspects of students whose parents are at home or not (P>0.05). There is not significant difference between males and females in cognitive strategy and social and affective strategy (P>0.05). There is not significant difference between different learning effectiveness in social and affective strategy (P>0.05).This paper analyzes comparatively the current situation and influencing factors of the students’ autonomous English learning in the vocational medical colleges in China, and the results can offer a scientific basis to the formulation of different kinds of effective measures for the students’ autonomous English learning in the vocational medical colleges.
