This report aims to summarize the Chinese-English translation process of General Technical Requirements of Engine Equipment under the guidance of Nida's translation theory.General technical requirements of equipment falls under the category of English for Science and Technology,so the translation of it follows the general principles of scientific and technological texts translation,namely,accuracy,objectivity and simplicity,in which accuracy is the most important principle.The so-called accuracy refers to that the translation must accurately convey the message contained in the source text.Under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory,the author chooses literal translation as the main translation strategy after the detailed analysis the differences between Chinese and English general technical requirements in language features so as to making the rendition easy to be accepted by target receptors.The report also focuses on the specific Chinese-English language conversion process.On the basis of detailed comparisons between Chinese and English general technical requirements on the syntactic level,the author flexibly apply literal translation,amplification,omission and other translation techniques to achieve "the closest natural equivalence",making the translation highly readable.
