Project Report On Translation For 2016 Guangxi Investment&Cooperation Projects In Major Industry(Portion Of Infrastructure)

Given the fact that infrastructure serves as the foundation and prerequisite for economic and social advancement,improving infrastructural construction can not only promote domestic demand and stimulate economic growth,but also lay a solid foundation for sustained and healthy development of economy.The smooth construction of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area facilitated economic and social progress in Guangxi,but,in the meantime,set higher requirements for infrastructural construction.Translation of documents about infrastructural construction can help to attract foreign investment,boost infrastructural industry and make adequate preparation for economic prosperity.This thesis is a translation report on investment and cooperation projects related to infrastructural industry in Guangxi in the year of 2016.The source text,which totals 13,420 characters,is derived from the Foreign Affairs Division of Guangxi Investment Promotion Agency and can be classified as technical document with contents concerning infrastructural investment and cooperation projects in fields like hydraulic engineering,bridge construction,power engineering,airport relocation,sewage treatment and river basin realignment.The source text focuses on introducing investment scale,construction contents as well as progress of projects so as to acquaint investors with project content and significance,attract investment from home and abroad and,ultimately,promote infrastructure construction,economic growth and social prosperity in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.This report consists of five parts:(1)Introduction,including background information,project significance as well as translation purpose;(2)Pre-translation preparations,which is a detailed description about preparatory works for this translation project,including acknowledging client’s requirements,analyzing text type,linguistic style and difficult points,searching theoretical support as well as making translation schedule;(3)Quality control,demonstrating,from three aspects,namely self-proofreading,proof-reading by classmates and proof-reading by professors,the process of quality control;(4)Case analysis,in which the translator tries to expound,through method of analyzing translation cases,on skills adopted by the translator to deal with the translation difficulties,including translation of proper nouns,project names,non-subject sentences and long sentences;(5)Conclusion,in which the translator states,by way of combining this translation experience,her new comprehension of translation activities and summarizes translation experience.In this thesis,the translator summarizes translation skills and methods for technical documents in expectation that it can better guide translator’s translation practice for similar types of texts and provide,at the same time,reference for other translators.
