The source text,The Undomestic Goddess,is a modern chic fiction about urban woman written by English writer Sophie Kinsella. It mainly tells a story that the heroine Samantha gets away from her career because of debacle. But later she is mistaken for people who apply for the housekeeping work. She takes the job under the circumstance of knowing nothing about cooking and gradually she find out what she really want and the real career she would like to pursue. Its central feature is the usage of a large number of fictional dialogues, among them dialogue between characters account for more than half of the fiction. The translation report is based on skopos theory, and focuses on the analysis of dialogue between characters. It discusses the relationship between skopos theory and reader orientation as well as the translation strategy and principle of dialogue between characters. The readers are targeted by their gender, age and education. In this case, the targeted readers are mainly female readers, and people who have received a little English education and are willing to learn more about English culture. As the dialogue accounts for most of the content, the analysis of dialogue feature and function is very important.Dialogues play a significant role in revealing characters, advancing the plot, attracting readers and depicting the objective environment. Therefore, the translation of oral expression is the priority of the fiction translation. How to translate the dialogue accurately and effectively has become a key to the success of the whole translation. In this report, the author refers to the "three agreements" theory put forward by professor Huang Fenbao, that is "the tone of the speaker in the target language is in agreement with the status and the temperament of the speaker in the original text and the particular situation is also taken into consideration".That is to say,in order to ensure the quality of the translation, when translating the dialogue, the translator shall not only be faithful to the literal meaning but also retain the original characteristics of the dialogue by way of selecting the appropriate target language.
