A Study On The Phenomenon Of "Er Hua"(儿化) In Xiang Yang Dialect

Xiangyang,a city in northwest of Hubei province,owns the language belonging to sub-dialect of southeast in northern dialect,which contributes to a common phenomenon called“Erhua(儿化)”in Xiangyang dialect.But few related studies about the phenomenon of"Erhua(儿化)" in Xiangyang dialect have been done.This paper will focus on the phenomenon of“Erhua(儿化)" in Xiangyang dialect,applying traditional description methods and comparison methods to show the language features of the the phenomenon of "Erhua(儿化)" in Xiangyang dialect.This paper is divided into nine chapters.The first chapter is introduction,which introduces the general situation of Xiangyang city,the language use condition in Xiangyang,phonetic system of Xiangyang dialect,the current study about Xiangyang dialect.In addition to these,the paper also includes innovative points,research methods and research significance.From chapter two to chapter eight,it has discussed the phenomenon of“Erhua(儿化)" in Xiangyang dialect existing in nouns,verbs,adjectives,numerals,quantifiers,pronouns,adverbs and other part of speech(distinguishing words,mimetic words,auxiliary words),which generalizes the language features of“Erhua(儿化)" in different parts of speech from the aspects of constitution forms,semantic features and grammatical features of "Erhua(儿化)”.In chapter nine,it will compare the phenomenon of“Erhua(儿化)"between Xiangyang dialect and Beijing dialect from the perspective of phonetic forms and the range and function of " Erhua(儿化)”,revealing the characteristics of " Erhua(儿化)" in Xiangyang dialect,by which we list the words and phrases can be with“Er " suffix both in Xiangyang dialect and Beijing dialect,the words and phrases can be with“Er " suffix in Xiangyang dialect but not in Beijing dialect,and the words and phrases can be with“Er " suffix in Beijing dialect but not in in Xiangyang dialect,in order to show regular patterns of the phenomenon of“Erhua(儿化)" in Xiangyang dialect.In this paper,we will base on phenomenon of“Erhua(儿化)" in Xiangyang dialect and compare the phenomenon of " Erhua(儿化)"between Xiangyang dialect and Beijing dialect to show the unique language features of the phenomenon of“Erhua(儿化)" in Xiangyang dialect.For example,a unique form called“A-不-B-B(瘦不精精)”form in in Xiangyang dialect.In most cases,it is often used as derogatory sense to show we dislike something or somebody.According to the investigation,we found " Er " suffix in adverbs have strong regional features,such as[t ie212 f(?)u[],[san34pu52(?)s(?)[34]etc..This kind of form which has been discussed in each chapter is more flexible.Through the detailed study,the author hope to make contributions to preserving Xiangyang dialect and popularizing Beijing dialect.
