A Study On Language Policy In Australia

In the context of globalization,language contact and language competition are becoming more and more popular among countries in the world,and the language ability of the country is represented by the soft power of its own culture.Among them,language planning and language policy as a key issue in the development of language strategy,not only in the various historical periods of social development had an important impact in the new period,but also because of its wide range of social application value shows an increasingly important role.Scientific and enlightened language policy,which is conducive to ensuring the smooth flow of national decrees and promoting the exchanges between all ethnic groups and regions.At the same time,it is also conducive to promoting social progress and promoting the development of national economic,political and cultural undertakings.Australia is the first English-speaking country to develop multilingualism and multiculturalism in the world.The formulation and implementation of its language policy has been highly praised by international political scientists and linguists.The study of the development of Australian language policy trajectory,motivation analysis,implementation strategy and other issues,China's current language planning has important implications and reference.This paper reviews the development of Australian language policy and divides the development of Australian language policy into four periods: laissez-faire,assimilation,diversification and prioritization.It further studies the motives of different stages of development.This paper analyzes the background,content and implementation effectiveness of the Asian "Asian Language and Research Strategy" in a way that analyzes the development of Asian language education in the period of prioritization.Finally,the author puts forward the enlightenment of the Australian language policy on the current language planning in China: strengthen the language position planning;establish the scientific language planning concept,change the single foreign language pattern,pay attention to the mother tongue study;strengthen the language service,establish the language service national standard.
