The Effect Of Icon On The Performance Of Target Location Search In Network Map

With the rapid development of computer technology and network technology,the network map has become a popular search tool as a geographic location tool.But the theoretical research and technical data related to the network map is researched by the paper map.So,they are hard to be applied in the electronic screen.Now,more attention have paid to technology,such as how to show the date quickly and accurately by network.However,as the famous map scientist Hof Yin had said,cartography should be an engineering science with art tendency.From the perspective of human factor engineering,the art tendency can be measured by subjective assessment,and the technology can be measured by objective search efficiency.From the subjective aspect and objective aspect,and drawing into two stages before and after the map,the research study the network icon to find the rule of icon,by doing so to meet people's needs.Cartography is not only a pure cartography of science and technology,but also is a certain artistic.When the basic function of the map tool is achieved,it can also meet the aesthetic requirements of users.From this point of view,this research study the the network electronic map in subjective and objective view,before and after the formation.In the first stage,from the subjective standard,the object of the network electronic map is people's needs.In order to achieve the user's subjective standard,this study carries on the questionnaire survey to the network map icon,and get eleven icons(highest score or higher score).As far as the objective standard is concerned,although the scholars have classified them according to their shape,they do not have objective criteria for the classification of the search efficiency.In this study,by using the user response time and accuracy as the objective evaluation criteria,comparing the search efficiency ofthe different categories of icon(geometric shape,pictographic form,text form).The results showed that there was a significant difference between the three types of search time,among which the geometric shape was the shortest.When the map is identified,the influence of the icon on the search efficiency should be analyzed from the perspective of the search background and object.The degree of map clutter has a great influence on the search of the icon,but the research on the interaction between the different categories of the icon and the map clutter is less.This research has carried on some exploration from this view.
