A Tentative Discussion On Criticism Of "Eight Views" In History

This thesis attempts to investigate the criticism of "Eight Views" in the history with Jiaxing area as an example.The focus of the topic lies in that as long as the discussion of village`straditional landscape nowadays,including manythesis involved in the "Eight Views",most of them are all praising.But when we refer to the ancient literature,in which there are Ancient Scholar holding a strict attitude to the “Eight Views”.Firstly,to understand what is "Eight Views" with Jiaxing areafor more detailed evidence,then to search for the reason why "Eight Views" was criticized in the middle of the Qing Dynastythrough ancient literature.At the end of this thesis,I will do a field research in Wuzhen of Jiaxing area to compare “Eight Views” with the site to discuss if it is coincident with each other.The origin of this thesis`s discussion begins from the analysis of "Eight Views of Xiaoxiang",combining with the creation background of the artist Song Di and the scholars' style of poetry as the basis for studying the metaphors of thelandscape painting.Taking Wu Zhen's "Eight Views of Jiahe” in the Yuan Dynasty as an example,this thesis is trying to read the artist's mark and inscriptions to observe how to constituteeach view and speculate the painter`s definition of view,which may conta insmeaning of type.For the continuation of part ofthe "Eight Views" in Ming Dynasty,it probably can be seen that after the dynastic cycle,the symbols still exists in the city in which future generations` choice of symbols still have some continuity.However,the "Eight Views" has been criticized by different scholars ofTextual Research in the QingDynasty.This article attempts to have a more accurate understanding by knowing their intentions,which may be helpful for the discussion in this thesis.According to <Prefecture Records of Jiaxing> in the QingDynasty,there are no records of “Eight Views”.To search for the reasons,new questions of “Eight Views” also occurs.At the end of this thesis,through comparing the "Eight Viewsin Wuzhen" with textual description by a field research,this thesis`s discussion of criticism of "Eight Views" would be more clear.
