Study On Decorative Patterns Of Blue And White Porcelain In Yuan Dynasty

Within 97 years from 1271,Kublai Khan establishing “Da Yuan” to 1368,Zhu Yuan-zhang naming the country as “Da Ming”,the rulers of the Yuan Dynasty owned very extensive territory.Han Mongolian cultural exchange at that time was also flourishing,absorbing many elements of Islamic culture from the West Asia region.Therefore,the Central Plains style inheriting traditional Chinese culture,the Color indicating Mongolian grassland culture and the fine style matching the aesthetic taste of Islamic art in the West Asian region all occur in the decorative pattern of blue and white porcelain in Yuan Dynasty.Through blending and mutual influence of these different styles,the above pattern rich in Yuan Dynasty characteristics is formed.In this paper,the decorative patterns shown in the existing blue and white porcelain of Yuan Dynasty were systematically sorted out,summarized and classified,and the features were analyzed.Then patterns with the same themes in different periods were compared from the angle of philosophy,history and art history by observing real materials.The mistakes made by previous researchers were corrected in the study and a supplementary contribution to porcelain pattern study in Yuan Dynasty was made.Also,my opinion about the origin of the blue and white porcelain was put forward.Through study and analysis,I find that basically all the patterns painted in the blue and white porcelain of Yuan Dynasty use the theme appeared in Han,and can find their origin or prototype in the art and crafts before Yuan Dynasty.This paper argues that the essence of the blue and white porcelain in the Yuan Dynasty is to draw Chinese traditional pattern by using the Islamic style pattern arrangement,agrees with the opinion that the blue and white porcelain in the Yuan Dynasty origins from the export porcelain customized.Through the study of literature and physical data,this paper believes that the blue and white porcelain reflects the cultural factors of Tibetan Buddhist art,Taoism and Islamic.
