English resultative construction, a family bounded by family resemblance, exhibits diversity in syntax and semantics. English intransitive resultative construction, a member of the family, inherits partial syntactic and semantic features of resultative construction and also retains its own idiosyncrasies. Many studies on intransitive resultative construction have been conducted from syntactic or semantic angles, which is far from enough to have a comprehensive understanding of it.From the perspective of construction grammar, the thesis views it as a form-meaning pair to explore its semantic features and licensing mechanism. The thesis tentatively combines Hans C. Boas's event-based frame semantics with Adele E. Goldberg's argument structure construction and attempts to formulate an Integrated Model which absorbs their advantages without suffering the shortcomings. Integrated Model takes verb's event-frame and construction's independent semantic structure into account. Integrated Model clearly displays that verb and construction work jointly and differently on the licensing of English intransitive resultative construction. It is a prerequisite to classify and analyze English intransitive resultative construction in a bid to achieve a full understanding of it.Syntactically, intransitive resultative construction takes on two forms: the one is S+Vi+FO+RP, intransitive resultative construction with fake object acting as postverbal element, and the other is S+Vi+RP, intransitive resultative construction without postverbal element. Semantically, they can be further classified because of the complexity and diversity each type displays. Since both noun phrase and reflexive can serve as fake object, S+Vi+FO+RP is further divided into S+Vi+NP+RP and S+Vi+Oneself+RP. In S+Vi+RP, RP is predicated of either the NP in subject position or the implicit object, so it is grouped into S+Vi+RP(subject NP hosting) and S+Vi+RP (implicit object hosting). The thesis delves into the semantic features of these four subtypes, based on which their licensing mechanisms are expounded via Integrated Model. On the part of S+Vi+FO+RP, the study discovers that the relation between fake object and result phrase is so close that they show cooccurrence rule. In respect of the recruitment of fake object, two principles are proposed: the principle of the same cause relation and the principle of conventionality. Cooccurrence rule together with two principles is the concrete embodiment of the idiosyncrasies of S+Vi+FO+RP. In terms of S+Vi+RP, it is found that RP's semantic hosts appear in different syntactic positions and that the relations between hosts sharing the same position and the main verb vary.
