Qi Baishi is a people's artist,the cultural celebrity of world as well as the winner of international peace prize.Besides,he is a citizen from Xiangtan,born in 1864,died in 1957.As for such great artist,both his family background and experiences of his childhood have attributed a lot for his later artistic achievements,especially the surrounding cultural circle in Hu nan area,which had played an important role for his success.The road for him to pursue for art is tough but amazing,which also has helped him to make up a solid basis for future accomplishment.All his studious and curious personality,surefooted spirit,kind and honest heart,style of hating injustice like poison and warm love for homeland deserve people following and inheriting.As a promising artist in modern era,Qi Baishi inherits Chinese wonderful private traditions.He has unique propositions,understandings and his own artistic thoughts in Chinese painting,calligraphy,seal cutting and poems.His paintings,no matter the early fascinating flowers,birds,fish and insects or later literati paintings,could bring people a clear,fresh,experienced and energetic feeling.What's more,his paintings have a feature of clear“green feeling” and reach a stage of perfect combination of alike appearance and spirit,which is a deepen realm of the unity of form and spirit.The main structure of this passage is as followed:The first chapter is the introductory part,which mainly focus on the reason of topic selection,the present situation of the research and the summary of the previous results,etc.This essay demonstrates detailed explanations for sections mentioned above.The second chapter illustrates the reason of formation of the Qi Baishi's artistic ideology.In this chapter,where the environment of his growth and the influence of nearest humanistic art background(which contributes on Qi's artistic thought)are included,Qi'slife is divided into three stages.The first stage is from Qi's birth to the age of 37,his poor family,harmonious relationship of family members and the persistence of study played key roles on the foundation of Qi's artistic ideology.The second stage is from his age of 37 when Qi learned art from Wang Kaiyun to his age of 57 when he settled in Beijing.In this stage,Qi socialized with a great number of his teachers and classmates,and made study tour with them.His cultural accomplishment had improved and enriched,especially during the period called ‘six out of six',which had an important impact on his artistic thought.The last stage is after his settle in Beijing.During this period,he would rather starve and die in Beijing than receive any mercy from the public to change his painting style,regardless of bad comments from the public.Finally,his unique artistic ideology had comments from the public.The third chapter mainly discusses Qi's artistic ideology from four different aspects including: painting,engraving,calligraphy and poem.For painting,he advocated that ‘the brightest point on painting is the balance of similarity and difference with the real objects',he believe that ‘it would be kitsch if the painting is too similar while it would be cheating if the painting is too different from the real'.For engraving and calligraphy,Qi's learned from the artistic predecessors and worked hard by him self,and ultimately formed his own style after many years.For poem,Qi bravely used simple and easy-understand words to make his poem innocent,interesting,smart and clever.The ideal of his poem is based on the real life.The style of his poem is not seeking for reputation nor showing off his talent,but is of a refreshing ‘bamboo air'like his painting.The fourth chapter is about the influence and significance of Qi's artistic ideology and it's contemporary revelation.
