On November 12,1937,Shanghai was occupied and a large number of anti-japan ese progressive publications were shut down.It was an important task to rebuild the a nti-japanese cultural position in Shanghai.Due to the foreign concession publications.Didn'tneed to accept the in-post censorship of the Japanese authorities,the patriots he nce decided to implement the "YangQi News" strategy,namely by foreigner front,the actual editing publishers are all Chinese,tried to use the special struggle way to open up the new anti-japanese culture position.This was the result of “Shanghai Weekly”.“Shanghai Weekly”was founded on November 1,1939,which had been issued fo r 102 times till it was stopped in December 1941,though it was published by the Briti sh merchants independent publication company,actually it was founded by CPC Jiang su provincial party committee culture committee of Shanghai underground party.Due to the banner of “YangQi News”,the issue was carried out smoothly by the British pe ople,without the complex phenomenon of the publication stopping of most publicatio ns of that time.The source of its funding depended mainly on the contribution of the p ublisher and the social endowment,the sales revenue of the journal,and the revenue fr om commercial advertising.“Shanghai Weekly”regarded the anti-japanese national salvation as the purpose,covering the political,military,social,economic and education aspects,it had never m oved the support to China anti-Japanese War,showing the distinct anti-japanese propa ganda color,calling for the national anti-japanese,exposing Japanese conspiracy,prop agating the anti-Japanese and country founding policy,and timely keenly capturing th e impact of the international situation on China anti-Japanese War.“Shanghai Weekly” also concerned Shanghai people's life during the island period,Shanghai economic a nd trade,education and culture,social environment and the security at that time were comprehensively introduced and reviewed,which truly recorded the economic life of t he people in Shanghai during the island period.As one publication of China communist underground party with the " YangQi Ne ws" banner,“Shanghai weekly” has three prominent characteristics: first,with bright c olors against aggression.“Shanghai Weekly” resisted the aggression,boldly expressed the feeling of anti-japanese and saving the nation,"saying that other person dare not s ay",which showed the wit and courage of China communist party member,also wrote down one page with thick and heavy colours for China communist underground partyduring anti-Japanese War.Secondly,the content is broad and the subject is interesting and popular.“Shanghai Weekly” hoped that readers could perspectively understand t he anti-Japanese War and the world situation trend comprehensively through the conte nt universality and topic interest,strengthening the report appeal and influence.Thir dly,it paid attention to the interact with the reader.“Shanghai Weekly” opened the spe cial topic to interact with readers,and with the aid of "Reader Mailbox" platform,resp onding in time to the letters of readers,establishing the correct understanding of the si no-japanese war situation with the firm anti-japanese belief.In the complex social environment of Shanghai Island period,“Shanghai Weekly” propagated the anti-japanese public opinion direction,to arouse the public anti-japan ese sentiment and strive for more of the anti-japanese force,which played an extremel y important role and became an important part of Shanghai anti-japanese culture facti on;At the same time,“Shanghai Weekly” truly recorded the people's social life condi tions during the island period,also provided more abundant historical materials and p erspectives for the study of the Shanghai economic and social culture.
