A Study Of Poems About The Empress In Early Tang Dynasty

As a part of poetry in Tang Dynasty,although poetry of imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty is not the counterpart to the male mainstream literature of Tang Dynasty,it is still the important supplement and embellishment of literature in Tang Dynasty.Imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty used poems to express their inner thoughts and emotions with frank and generous words,thus presenting their rich emotional world in the harem.The thesis explores poetry of imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty in terms of the origin of the poetry,overall style,artistic features and its values.And practical comments are made on the limit of this poetry.The first chapter is introduction,which redefines the poetry of imperial concubines.Then poems of imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty are sorted and the long-term misunderstanding on the poetry are corrected so as to gain a better understanding on the definition and essence of the poetry.Situation of academic research on poetry of imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty are sorted and reviewed in the chapter.The second chapter introduces the historical origin and objective background of the poetry of imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty.The third chapter and the fourth chapter are the main body of the thesis discussing the characteristics of the poetry from the content and the form respectively.As for the subject,the poetry mainly demonstrates concubines' inner emotions,leisure and entertainment,serail versifying by means of echoing the emperor and the ancestral temple sacrifice and so on.In terms of the art,the poetry system is diversified mainly with five Chinese characters in each sentence.And the poetry has characteristics of generosity,smoothness and aliveness in its major style.In the use of aesthetic images,imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty are good at using Ornaments images with feminine beauty and pine and laurel images with the elegant beauty,which indicates their living conditions and desire: the extravagant material life and the desire for spiritual freedom.Of course,the number of poetry of imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty is,after all,small.Moreover,there must be some limitations.But with its own unique characteristics and the special political status of the imperial concubines themselves,the poetry boasts its unique values and contributions on the promotion of new poetic style in Tang Dynasty and the development of landscape poetry and metrical verses.As unity of commonness and individuality forms a true text with research significance,the thesis both summarizes and analyzes the commonness and the individuality of poetry of imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty.From the residual and retained poetry,the real face and secret emotions of imperial concubines in the early Tang Dynasty are explained and restored.In this precious women cultural heritage,objective and true values are found so as to enrich and perfect the literature in Tang Dynasty.
