The narrative sequence of the poems by John Keats is generally regarded as the result of the tension between synchronic and diachronic relationship in internal focalization, with the influence of Negative Capacity ignored. This thesis, based upon previous research results, will analyze the aesthetic tension of Keats' poems from the perspective of spatial and temporal relationship, narrative angles, the distance between readers and the poet, and the balance between possibility and authenticity to demonstrate the influence of Negative Capacity on the narrative structure of his poems.Different from traditional lyric poets,Keats neglects his own identity, endowing the text with unique writing techniques in his manipulation of temporal and spatial relationship, narrative angle, the distance between the readers and the poet, and the authentic possibility and possible authenticity under Negative Capacity.By means of narrative therapy,John Keats can re-construct his own identity in imagination and crown his short and rough life. The temporal and spatial relationship of poems by Keats is of spherical shape, because except the tension between synchronic and diachronic relationship, there is“synthetic field”.When the narrator enters the mind of characters by means of universal parallel,he completes the task which cannot be done in the domain of story, but it exists in the synthetic field.Keats employs universal parallel to make assumptions in natural world by means of empathy with nature. Therefore the time and space sequence of Keats' poem is of spherical shape constructed by universal parallel structure, emphasizing different assumptions in natural world. At the same time, with the retreat of the poet,Keats diverts from internal focalization in homodiegetic narration to external focalization in heterodiegetic narration, and finally returns to internal focalization in homodiegetic narration. When readers appreciate Keats' poems, little reason is required to get the core meaning inthe text.On this occasion, readers can experience a visual feast and seek patiently for the idea delivered in the poem under the guidance of Negative Capacity. Therefore the distance between readers and the poet is rather closer.Keats creates two different kinds of worlds in his poems: The dreamed world and the earthly world.Keats adopts mythology(including the Arcadian images and the mythology with his own interpretations),repetition of words and sentence patterns, the mixture of sensory words and synesthesia to add possibility to the real world and authenticity to the dreamed world to fully depict the colorful world besides the narrator.
