This thesis tries to analyze political consecutive interpretation under the theory of Halliday's interpersonal function, which mainly focus on the relationship between the speaker and listener and how to communicate with others.Taking the transcripts of the Premier's Press Conference after the NPC and CPPCC sessions from 2013 to 2017 as the research text, the author tries to illustrate the realization of interpersonal function in political consecutive interpretation especially from the perspective of mood and modality system.Through qualitative and quantitative analysis, the author aims at answering the following questions:1.How can the interpreter realize the interpersonal function through mood?2.How can the interpreter realize the interpersonal function through modality?3.What are the frequencies of declarative mood, imperative mood and interrogative mood?4.What are the frequencies of various modal operators?Qualitative analysis mainly discusses the benefits of applying mood and modality in C-E political consecutive interpreting.Through the analysis, the interpreter may adopt different mood to state the speaker's political opinions and select appropriate modal words to achieve the interpersonal equivalence of the speech.Quantitative analysis aims at analyzing frequencies of mood and modality. From the perspective of mood system, this study shows that the declarative mood plays a predominant role, with interrogative mood as secondary, and imperative mood is barely used.In perspective of modality system, the interpreter adopts different modal operators to make the speech more persuasive and effective.
