Contemporary research on needs theory is various genres and styles,the need theory of ecological Marxism is an important genre of the researches about need theories,William Leiss ' theory of human needs is an important representative of the theory of ecological Marxism.In this paper,the theory of the needs of William Rice's theory from its theoretical origin as the starting point,system comprehensively combs the main content of the theory of human needs,appraise it from the perspective of Marxist philosophy,explains the theoretical and practical value of the theory,and pointed out its limitations,to broaden the theoretical perspective of Marx's theory of needs.The first chapter mainly discusses the theoretical origin and the realization background of the theory of the needs of William Leiss.From the theoretical point of view,as the important representative of ecology Marxism,the theory of William Lees' theory of needs is the related theory of Marxism,sorted out and analyzed the theory of human needs mainly from the three aspects of human and natural relations theory,need theory and alienation theory;From the reality of the background,in the capitalist society,the crisis of capitalism from the production areas to the consumer areas with the development of productive forces,people indulge in the pursuit of material consumption,human consumption alienation,which also makes Ecological crisis has become increasingly prominent and serious,to protect the environment for the purpose of the ecological movement also will rise.The second chapter mainly discusses the main content of the theory of William Leiss' theory.The theory of the needs of William Rice has explored the theory of human needs through the study of the theory of traditional needs,the duality analysis of human needs,the systematic dilemma of people in high concentration market.Based on the dialectical relationship between commodity and human needs,from the two dimensions of nature and society to commodity,need,and the relationship between the two to study,elucidated the need for human predicament and causes,and focus on from the re-construction of human needs patterns ?building more easily survival society and respect for natural rights the three aspect propose a solution of dilemma of need.The third chapter is based on the previous two chapters,analyzes the theory of the needs of William Leiss,and points out its theoretical contribution,realization value and limitation from the perspective of Marxist philosophy.Analyze its theoretical contribution from the three aspects of the re-construction of human needs patterns?the new expansion of consumer theory ?a new perspective to look at capitalism.From the perspective of ecologicalism and environmentalism discusses the practical value of the theory in solving ecological problems,guiding the correct consumption,and promoting harmony between man and nature;In its limitations,William Leiss over-exaggerated the consequences of alienation of consumption,did not see the harmony between man and nature side,ignoring the progress of human society development is unstoppable,which also destined William Leiss and Ecology Marxism can not completely uphold the Marxist stand.
