Technology And Production:Transformation And Influence Of Farm Tools In Shanxi Province In 1950s

The transformation of farm tools is an important part of the agricultural production technology innovation in the early days of the People’s Republic of China,this article chooses the 1950 s as the research period,discusses the change of the farm imp lements in Shanxi Province from the traditional to the modern,and the social history it created.In the early days of the People’s Republic,the Chinese Communist Party was committed to fundamentally changing the status quo of outdated technology,improving agricultural productivity and realizing agricultural mechanization.However,due to the weak industrial base at that time,China still can not produce a large number of agricultural machinery.Therefore,China pointed out that the main task of agricultural mechanization is to carry out the transformation of farm tools,roughly divided into two steps:The first step is to promote a variety of new animal power farm imp lements;the second step is to develop mechanization and semi-mechanization powered farm implementsgradually.Specifically,in terms of Shanxi,the transformation of farm tools mainly focused on the addition and reform of old farm tools and the promotion of new farm tools.In this process,Shanxi Provinceestablished the promotion institutions,such as farm tool station,Agriculture Construction Office,farm tool technology reform office,etc.,and set up a special design and accreditation agenc ies,and organized their divis ion of labor.In accordance with the "key demonstration and promotion,steady development" princip le,Shanxi Provincecarried out various mass publicity and education campaigns,send ed specialized technical staff to explain the superiority of new farm tools to farmers,ran a variety of farm tool classes,exhib itions,guided patiently,stressed the necessity and importance of technologyconstantly,promoted new farm tools in the province with p lans and focus.During the Great Leap Forward,Shanxi Province launched a large-scale farm tool reform movement,constantly promoted the bearing of farm tool and the reform of deep farming tools.The transformation of farm implements in Shanxi Province has improved the status of agricultural production to a considerable extent,increased agricultural productivity production.At the same time,the national policy and consciousness has been transmitted to the grassroots society through the promotion of new farm tools,which highlights the new trend of socialization of agricultural technology.The social concept of peasants,such as labor concept and scientific concept,also changed with the infiltration of agricultural technology imperceptibly.This study provides a new perspective for us to rethink the history of rural social change in the period of collectivization.
