| Because of its large number of symbolic metaphor,profound thought connotation as well as the beautiful images appear,Ang lee’s Life of Pi become the global influence of film text,and it is also the typical text of the analysis of film symbols because of its perfect image of image symbols and human subjects.Different symbols have different symbolic meanings,and in the composite symbol system,the symbol system itself constitutes a kind of cultural form.The symbolism of the symbol is more abundant in this fixed form of culture.Ang lee’s Life of Pi deepens the meaning of the text with a rich and systematic image,and constructs a very symbolic image world.At the same time,the strong cross-cultural characteristics make it a special cultural value.These provide the necessary prerequisite for the study of the image symbol of Life of Pi.At first,this paper combed the film symbol theory,analyzed the Ang lee’s Life of Pi text,and then systematacially researched the image symbols of Life of Pi.The image symbols of Ang lee’s Life of Pi are divided into five categories: scene symbols,character symbols,color symbols,music symbols and other symbols.As they achieve certain narrative functions,they generate rich and unique meanings.In the symbol of the scene,India is a symbolic metaphor for the microcosm of the world with its diverse culture;because of the existence of different animals the zoo is a metaphor for the unsolved world of human nature;the vast Pacific Ocean and the world’s deepest point of the Mariana trench are a metaphor for the voyage and the abyss of the soul;cannibalism was given the double meaning of "creation" and "destruction" because of its role as a transit point in the sea.In the characters,the pie and Richard parker are alluded to,.they metaphors for the unknown of human nature and bloodthirsty beast of human nature,and the game of the two.The mother and the orangutan radiate each other,and because of their maternal and emotional thinking become the symbol of faith,love and beauty.Father became a symbol of reason.In addition,the cook and hyenas have been alluded to by their temperament as a metaphor for human animality.Sailors and zebras are alluded to,and carry the meaning of the film’s irony in religion.As the first love of the pi,Anandi was the only hope in the school,so she implied love and hope.At the same time,different colors have different metaphors in the movie,and the choice of different characters and situations has also enriched the meaning of the movie.In addition,there are someother symbolic elements in the film which also make up the effective part of the image symbol system of Ang lee’s Life of Pi.After the systematic analysis of the film image symbol,this paper discusses the significance of the Life of Pi ’s image.The rich image symbol system of Ang lee’s Life of Pi expresses deep meaning,which is the center of gravity of human reflection and human redemption.This paper finds that the image symbol system and significance point of Ang lee’s Life of Pi have special production mechanism.The main manifestations are the following three aspects:For one thing,the director’s mind,the director’s cultural background and the "humanity" theme of his work are one of the causes of the film.Secondly,starting from the traditional western philosophy,western philosophy about human nature evil is the main source of western view of human nature,"human nature" is the permanent motif in the philosophy and becomes one of the cultural roots about Life of Pi.Third,the world cultural environment is driven.The film and television literature is more interested in the universalizing theme of "human nature" under the constant flow of east and west culture. |
