The Dai ethnic group in Mangshi area of Yunnan province almost believes in Theravada Buddhism,which has a profound impact on the secular society.Theravada Buddhism has penetrated into all aspects of social life.Theravada Buddhism has become a significant component of the local culture of Dai people and an indispensable spiritual power of believers.It is not only confined to a spiritual field,but also plays an important role on national festivals and customs.However,in recent years,Theravada Buddhism precepts in Dai zone have been changing for the continuous impact of the modern civilization and Han culture.This article makes a deep research about daily life,customs,morality,ethic,and laws of Mangshi Dai Village,and aims to embody the actual contemporary situation of Theravada Buddhism commandment in Dai area.This paper includes five parts: The first part makes a basic introduction about precepts and Vinaya of Theravada Buddhism;the second part is about the influence of the Theravada Buddhism Vinaya in Mangshi's society;the third part explains the influence and significance of Buddhism Vinaya on secular society;the final part summarizes the "Buddha-nature" society of Dai people and points out that the minority nationalities live in Yunnan's borders,which almost entire nationality believes in Theravada Buddhism,whose cultures contain more Buddhism elements,and its social progress has get benefits from the influence of Buddhism.
