As a kind of aesthetic category,absurd has swept Western art field in the 20 th century.The rise of absurd consciousness revealed the distorted values of the Western capitalist society and the despair,disillusionment,loneliness,alienation and feelings of being abandoned by the world which were brought about by the two World Wars to people's spirits.In China,absurd entered the Chinese art field as a kind of aesthetic category and received extensive and enthusiastic pursuit since the Western existential philosophy entered into Chinese society in the collision of Chinese and Western cultures after the reform and opening up.Absurd is embodied in a variety of art fields,especially in the field of film and television art,and more and more film and television works show absurd aesthetic consciousness.Therefore,this paper,based on the absurd aesthetic upsurge presented in Chinese contemporary films,will study the influences of absurd aesthetic appreciation on the film art creation by tracing the source of absurd aesthetic appreciation.Among the Chinese contemporary films,three directors with obvious absurd aesthetic characteristics are selected: Jiang Wen,Ning Hao,Guan Hu.Their film works will be taken as examples to analyze the absurd beauty in Chinese contemporary films.This paper will give a certain theoretical basis for people to interpret the film,allowing people to enhance the aesthetic level on the basis of understanding absurd aesthetic appreciation,and having a very important practical significance in guiding the film audiences to have correct values.The absurd beauty in Chinese contemporary films will be discussed in this thesis through the following chapters.The first chapter is the introduction: mainly introducing the research background and significance,concluding and summarizing the related research status and related literatures at home and abroad and briefly describing the research methods and innovation point of this thesis.The second chapter is the rise and development of the absurd aesthetic appreciation in the Chinese films: to seek the origin and development of the absurd aesthetic appreciation in the Chinese and Western culture,and to analyze absurd aesthetic consciousness in the creations of each intergenerational director from the perspective of intergenerational division.The third chapter is the absurd aesthetic performances of Jiang Wen,Ning Hao and Guan Hu in film narrative: analyzing the absurd aesthetic appreciation of the three directors' works from the narrative perspective.The fourth chapter is the absurd aesthetic performances of the film themes of Jiang Wen,Ning Hao and Guan Hu: on the theoretical basis of aesthetic consideration of existential philosophy on absurd,the author analyzes the absurd themes of the three directors in film creation.The five chapter is the absurd aesthetic performances of the characterization in the films of Jiang Wen,Ning Hao and Guan Hu: analyzing the little characters with obvious absurd aesthetic characteristics in the works of the three directors,and summarizing audiences' emotional identity for the absurd little characters.The six chapter is on the absurd beauty in contemporary Chinese films from the film works of Jiang Wen,Ning Hao and Guan Hu: summing up the three characteristics of absurd aesthetic appreciation in contemporary Chinese films,namely the absurd beauty of ugliness,abnormal comedy beauty and joking tragedy beauty.The seventh chapter is the conclusion.
