During a history of thousands of years,Chinese culture has bred and developed its own unique patterns, which is famous in world civilization. With the rapid development of era nowadays, the original old things are constantly impacted by new things.Besides,a fair proportion of traditional culture has already gone extinct under such circumstances.Shadow puppets,as a kind of folk art, don't succeed in escaping misfortune but are slowly heading towards decline. In terms of protection of traditional culture, however,China is always making efforts to inherit and carry forward some outstanding folk arts as soon as possible.Nevertheless,it is by no means easy to save such traditional art as shadow puppets.Among the numerous schools of Chinese traditional shadow puppets,Tangshan Shadow Play,as one of the “Three Flowers in Jidong”,its development status is optimistic compared with shadow puppets in other areas, which is closely related to constant hard work of the government and folk artists. But still, nothing can stop the trend that Tangshan Shadow Play is heading for decline.Problems like single transmission mode and a lack of worthy successors are indisputable facts.Taking new media communication of Tangshan Shadow Play Art as the subject, this paper mainly discusses how Tangshan Shadow Play will get rid of previous single transmission mode, combine with modern technology and appear in the horizon of the masses in new ways in New Media Age.Through an analysis of problems encountered in the development and inheritage of Tangshan Shadow Play, this paper comes to the necessity of the new media communication of Tangshan Shadow Play. Moreover,it also specifically discusses the integration and application of Tangshan Shadow Play in forms like interactive arts, network new media, digital museum as well as computer animation.
