The English-Chinese Translation Of Logical Texts Under The Guidance Of Construal Theory

In recent years,a growing number of universities are beginning to set up logic courses because logic provides a masterly overview of how our minds understand and leads us to solve complex problems.And as a developing country,China has been sought in logic education especially after the opening-up and reform policy.Cognitive Linguistics is similar to logic on the perspective of human activity involvements.Since the 21 century,Cognitive Linguistics has gradually become one of the mainstreams in foreign language learnings.Therefore,the translator chooses the logical texts and cognitive linguistics to analysis which should be meaningful and innovative.In this translation practice report,there are two questions the translator wants to solve.The one is whether the Construal Theory could help readers to obtain better understandings of the source text and the other question is whether readers could rely on the Construal Theory to catch the original intention of the author in this book.If the assumptions are true,then readers could understand logical texts easily and truthfully in the cognitive way.The translator selects Chapter Two and Three of Thinking and Reasoning to translate under the guidance of Construal Theory.In the process of translation,the translator analyzes the five main dimensions of construal theory and summarizes the relevant translation strategies.The practice has proved that it is feasible to apply the Construal Theory to translate logical texts.And the translator also obtains a better understanding for the source text.Besides,literature study indicates that there are lots of researches on logic and translation,but most of them are mainly about how to use logical thinking to translate.Besides,there are amount of study on cognitive linguistics and translation.However,researches on logical texts translation especially from the perspective of Construal Theory are relatively rare to see.Therefore,the translation report has certain academic originalities and practical significances.
