With high-speed development of social economy, the cross discipline cooperation and study have brought us lots of surprises and attracted more and more scholars to make a further study. The conceptual metonymy theory, belonging to cognitive linguistics,is a kind of cognitive mechanism. And translation is not only the transformation between two kinds of languages, but also a kind of cognitive behavior, the translator's understanding and cognition for the source text. Therefore,as a new study, the combination of cognitive linguistics theory and translation needs to obtain more analyses and studies of scholars. This article uses the conceptual metonymy theory to guide the translation practice for further studying the effect of metonymy theory during translation.Thinking and Reasoning is a book integrating multidisciplinary knowledge like psychology, philosophy and linguistics, and introducing human's thinking logic and decision-making process. In this book,Chapter 9 translated by the translator mainly explains some psychological experiments and the decision-making process of human to make people more clearly learn about how to make decisions and appropriately deal with problems.Under the guidance of conceptual metonymy theory, the translator analyzes and translates several kinds of metonymies, and summarizes the relevant translation strategy in line with the classification of metonymy. The practice has proved that it is feasible to apply the conceptual metonymy theory to the translation practice, and the translator can have a better understanding for the source text and more successfully complete the whole translation. This translation practice is an attempt applying the cognitive linguistics theory to the translation, aiming at guaranteeing the scientificity and accuracy of translation, improving the quality of translation and providing some reference with more scholars interested in this area.
