Authorship Identification Of Anonymous Report Letters: From The Perspective Of DIT

The anonymous report letter is the means by which citizens disclose to the department concerned information,illegal activities or crimes people or governmental organizations committed.However,nowadays a lot of people take advantage of the anonymity to retaliate others.And the researches in authorship identification of anonymous report letters have seldom been done by scholars,although authorship identification has been developed for years.This thesis aims at exploring a new way for authorship identification of anonymous report letters from the perspective of DIT.The thesis employs qualitative and quantitative analyses;qualitative analysis focuses on the description of the linguistic materials,while quantitative analysis,mainly T-test,focuses on the data obtained by tagging the materials.Then a set of valid indicators for authorship identification of anonymous report letters can be gained from the aspects of macro analysis and micro analysis.Authors of an anonymous report letters use some typical information to reach the goal so that there is information which is typically functional.For this phenomenon,an experiment is conducted aiming to extract valid indicators from the aspect of information function,the data of which will be compared with each other in groups.At last the real author will be found and valid indicators can be gained.The results show the indicators are effective,and in addition DIT as a new perspective employed for authorship identification of anonymous report letters is practical.This study enriches the type of materials and the techniques used in authorship identification as well as the application of DIT.
