2017 marked the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Australia and it was also the China-Australia Year of Tourism.On September 15th in2017,the author served as a consecutive interpreter for Australia-Shaanxi Tourism Destination Seminar which focused on tourism,health,heritage tourism and interpretive planning,as well as hotel management in Xi'an.This practice report is based on the author's interpreting task at Australia-Shaanxi Tourism Destination Seminar.The author finds that the problems occurred in her consecutive interpreting task include information inaccuracy in culture-loaded words,information loss in proper nouns and information misinterpretation which were caused by insufficient preparation before interpreting.At the same time,the author finds that some segments are interpreted in a high quality at spot as she prepared very well about that related information.In this interpreting task,the author applied the schema theory to preparation before interpreting,including preparing culture-loaded words and proper nouns from the perspective of language schema,preparing background knowledge,conference agenda and general information about speakers and audience from the perspective of content schema as well as preparing text structure knowledge and logic before conference from the perspective of structure schema.Afterwards,the author finds that the quality of some segments are far better than other segments which she did not prepare adequately before conference according to self-assessment and clients'feedback,which verifies the effectiveness and feasibility of the solutions.
