Motivation study has been a heated focus since 1970.But the development of motivation research had a standstill because the research methods were very little and the research angle was too narrow. To solve problems of the L2 motivation,D?rnyei's L2 Motivational Self System(L2MSS)has brought many hints for the motivation researches and that was proved that it is useful to explain students' motivations varying.Since 1990,many researchers presented that teacher's motivation would influence their students' motivation, and called it “motivation contagion”.To know how teacher's motivation influences students' motivation truly and clearly, the author used teacher's autonomy-supportive behavior as a mediation in the process of the contagion between teacher and students from the perspective of the L2 MSS.The author chose three teachers who had different levels of teaching motivation to teach three groups of students that were sophomores in a university in Xi'an,and conducted an observation and a survey, made a comparison of the results of students' motivation questionnaires before the semester and after to confirm the occurrence of the contagion. The author's findings are as followed,at first, there is a motivation contagion from the perspective of the L2 MSS.Secondly, the level of teacher's motivation influence students' Ought-to self, and then influence their L2 Motivation Self System through autonomy-supportive behaviors of teacher. Finally, the author summarized the limitations of this research and the development of future researches,at the same time, came up with the pertinent suggestions to teachers to offer a new method of future English teaching.
