| Objective:(1)To identify acculturation strategy classification of the college students from Xinjiang.(2)To investigate the current acculturation status of the college students from Xinjiang.(3)To explore the relationship among acculturation strategy,sociocultural adaption and psychological adjustment.The present study hopes to enrich the study of acculturation,provide the intervention perspective and references for helping minority college students to adapt to college life.Method: The subjects of this study were 938 college students from Xinjiang.The Acculturation Strategy Scale,Sociocultural Adaption Scale(SCAS),Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS)were used to survey acculturation strategy,sociocultural adaption and psychological adjustment.The SPSS19.0 was used to analyze data,Mplus6.0 was used to conduct latent profile analysis(LPA),Amos17.0 was used to construct the path analysis.Results:(1)The college students from Xinjiang were divided into four sorts: moderate integration,high integration,marginalization and separation.There were significant difference between the four sorts in mainstream identity and cultural participation,ethnic identity and cultural participation.(2)Four acculturation strategies would vary with the grade,school area,hometown area and Chinese language proficiency.(3)Sociocultural adaption would vary with the grade,school area,hometown area,Chinese language proficiency and acculturation strategy.(4)Psychological adjustment(life satisfaction)would vary with the school area and acculturation strategy.(5)Among the whole students and the students who adopted moderate and high integration,mainstream cultural participation was the positive predictor of sociocultural adaption,ethnic cultural participation was the positive predictor of psychological adjustment.(6)Among the whole students,ethnic cultural participation was the positive predictor of sociocultural adaption,and interpersonal behavior adaption played a partly mediating role between mainstream cultural participation and psychological adjustment.(7)Among the students who adopted moderate integration,ethnic cultural participation was the positive predictor of sociocultural adaption,and interpersonal behavior adaption played apartly mediating role between ethnic cultural participation and psychological adjustment.Ethnic identity was the negative predictor of psychological adjustment.Conclusions:(1)LPA could divide students into four sorts which homogeneous in the group and heterogeneous between groups.The four distinct acculturation strategies were moderate integration,high integration,marginalization and separation.(2)The levels of sociocultural adaption and psychological adjustment were the highest,when the students adopted bicultural strategy.(3)The effects of different acculturation strategies on sociocultural adaption and psychological adjustment were different.In the work of maintaining minority college students’ mental health,we need to consider the heterogeneity of the population.According to the acculturation strategy,we can provide targeted intervention to improve their level of sociocultural adaption and psychological adjustment. |
