Three Preludes-for Piano is one of the most representative works of Zhang Shuai as a young composer,and is also a masterpiece of modern piano works in China.This composition reveals the character and mental status of contemporary youth either through its content or form by presenting their passion for life and highlighting their unique personality.This work is considered of great research value.The composer adopts the pentatonic style and combines western chromatic technique with the rhythmic pattern of jazz music,creates a perfect combination of Chinese and Western music by integrating Chinese traditional music with Western music elements,and arouses sympathy of the times.For this reason,the composition has won the Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music.The thesis is developed from the creation background of this work and is based on the exact and latest version of Three Preludes,which is confirmed by Zhang Shuai himself in an interview with the author.Through analyzing the musical structure,artistic features and performance techniques,the artistic value of this work is revealed in a deep level.Meanwhile,the author has interpreted this work in a comprehensive way in conjunction with her own performing practices and personal experience of the connotation,emotion and technical challenges in performing this work.It allows the author to provide technical guidance on the learning,performing and teaching of this work,assist the general learners to work out the difficulties when dealing with this work,and provide a theoretical support for others to learn and perform this work better.
