Study Of Influence Of Western Painting On Chinese Meticulous Figure Painting

Chinese meticulous figure painting has been developed for more than two thousand years,and it is favored by many people.In ancient times,artists had developed special aesthetic approaches by researching and practicing,such as structuring with lines,imaging through senses,coloring while delineating,using colors by categories,etc.,and these approaches had therefore featured Chinese traditional meticulous figure painting.In Yuan,Ming,and Qing dynasties,Chinese meticulous figure painting was once declining.Until Ming dynasty when eastern and western painting communicated with each other,meticulous figure painting took in the scientific structuring concept of western painting,and made bold researches and tries in elements like volume,shadow,perspective,and natural representation.Meanwhile,generations of artists had studied traditional meticulous figure painting systematically.And then,with the continuous introduction of western perspective science,chromatics,and composing science,the traditional painting concept and aesthetic trend were influenced.Until the Chinese economic reform took place,and with the unremitting efforts made by generations of meticulous figure artists,meticulous figure painting gradually started to develop and revive its mien in Tang and Song dynasties.Currently,meticulous figure painting has not only superior techniques of expression,but also unique artistic performance.Most of all,modern meticulous figure artists learned composition,color,structure,and shadow from western painting,which has made the artistic performance of modern meticulous figure painting even more splendid.So far,there have been some representative artists in Chinese tradition meticulous figure painting,such as Zeng Jing,Jiao Bingzhen,Xu Beihong,He Jiaying,Tang Yongli,Zhang Jian,etc.,who have been worked hard to blend the essentials in traditional painting with western painting concept.When we appreciate their meticulous figure paintings,we will notice that their works are quite precise in structuring,reflecting traditional delineating techniques while making their own changes.What's more,their works stick to the themes of their times,remaining a strong sense of imagery while combining the charm of Chinese and western painting.
