Computer adaptive test is welcomed by the majority of researchers and applications because of its convenience and effective reduction of the exposure of the subject. There are mainly includes four major components of CAT test: the construction of the question bank, the title screening, ability estimation and termination conditions.Computer tests is based on CTT,IRT,and computer-based adaptive tests is based on IRT can be implemented by using CADATS software. However, because the computer adaptive test must take some technology to convert the paper test into a computer presentation of the test,we need to test the operation of professionals with a certain degree of computer programming capabilities. The CADATS system requires the paper test jpg or swf picture form on the computer. We use Flash software to re-compile the paper test, and use Action Script language to achieve the test and CADATS communication links. It is characterized by its complexity. In this study,we use the Flash software to re-compile the paper test, and use the Rasch model of the project response theory to carry out the computer adaptive test, which is a practical research on the computer adaptive test of the high school English subject using the CADATS system. The research can effectively promote the application of computer adaptive test in the field of basic education in our country. We selected 60 subjects from a university to do the CAT test. The results of the test were analyzed and the result shows that CADATS software has strong practical nature in the question bank management, the implementation of computer adaptive test, data post-processing and management.
