Public signs as an important medium of communication,plays an important role in the cultural exchanges between countries,so the translation of public signs has become a concern of all countries.Public signs are which a special form of language expression,but also a more widely used style,can not be ignored in Xinjiang because there are many different ethnic languages and cultures exchanged in here.At the same time,public signs which are also known as the city's business card and one of the most important symbol of urban civilization,play an important role in shaping,showing and maintaining a good external image and reflecting the overall appearance of the city.The translational level between Uighur and Chinese on the public signs not only affects the accuracy of information transmission,but also affects the communication between two ethnics.The article bases on the functionalist translation theory,puts Uighur and Chinese on the public signs as objects and classifies them,and then analyses the public signs from Features of words,sentence patterns etc in order to making a further study on the translation from Chinese to Uighur on the basis of previous studies.In the end,the paper proposes the effective translation strategies and techniques for the translation between Uighur and Chinese on the public signs which lays the foundation for the translation of the two languages and provides reference to Similar researches.
