Eye-Movement Study On Face Adaptation Of The Nationality Characteristics For Uyghur-Han College Students

The face contains a large number of social information,such as age,Individual face perception is the processing of the face which extract the required corr esponding information.The face adaptation is a kind of the perception of the face,after a long period of time to see a face can produce perceptual aftereffect,when looking at the average face,it will produce the opposite face of the structural characteristics.According to the study of face adaptation,face dimension information,such as age,gender and race,can cause face adaptation.This study explores whether nationality characteristics can lead to face adaptation,and introduce the cultural factors of Uygur/Han which explores whether can lead to face adaptation.meanwhile,eye movement technology was used to explore the the effect of adaptation on face processing.This study consists of two experiments.Experiment 1: the classic adaptation paradigm,use the Han nationality faces as adaptation stimulate,explore national within-modal adaptation phenomenon,and use eye tracking,investigating the variation of face processing mode.The results of the study showed that the nationality faces can cause the face adaptation aftereffect,i.e.when a long time watching the Uygur / Han face,it was more likely to be judged as Han /Uygur face.It is also found that,after adaptation,face processing have changed,compared with baseline,the eye fixation time,fixation times were significantly decreased,while the nose,mouth and eyebrows the fixation time and fixation times increased significantly.Experiment 2: Using picture of Uygur and Chinese culture characteristics as adaptation stimuli,explore faces between cross-modal adaptation phenomenon,also use eye tracking.The results of the study showed that the pictures of nationality cultural characteristics could lead to the face adaptation,and the eye movement trend of adaptation also have changed after adatation.The results are similar as the experimental 1.The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Use the nationality faces as adaptation stimulation,can cause the face adaptation phenomenon,namely,when a long time watching the faces of Uygur / Han,it was more likely to be judged as Han /Uygur face,cause adaptation aftereffect(2)Use the picture of nationality cultural characteristics as adaptation stimulation,can cause face adaptation phenomenon,namely when a long time watching pictures of Han/Uygur cultural characteristics,it was more likely to be judged as Han/ Uygur face,cause face aftereffect.(3)The nationality faces and non face of pictures with nationality cultural characteristics can change the individual face processing,compared to the baseline,the individual eye fixation time,fixation times decrease,other areas of face fixation time,fixation times have increased.individual tend to use facial features processing after adaptation.
