Influence Of Conflict Control By Different Ways Of Inducing Emotion

As a member of the social group,our social environment is rapidly changing.With the updates of information,the society develops at a high speed.We all need to handle with different information effectively by taking full advantage of useful information and avoiding processing invalid information,which signifies the control ability of cognitive control for improving the efficiency of information processing and quality of life.At the same time,the important role of emotion in our daily lives cannot be ignored.Different emotion could enrich our emotional experience and show our different well and feeling in different environment.It can be said that emotion makes a great difference in many aspects,such as our daily life,work and studying.In the early research,some learners explore weather task can produce emotion by itself and affect evaluation of the following target tasks.In addition,different emotions for us to complete the task the impact is different,studies have found that positive emotion is helpful to improve the flexibility of attention,to complete the task of divergent(such as brainstorming);and negative emotions is helpful to maintain the stability of attention,to finish the tasks which need highly concentrated(such as a good solution math problem).Hence,many researches put the emotion and cognitive control in the lab,aiming to study the interaction of them by scientific way.In the laboratory,we always study cognitive control by the Stoop task and so on,while conflict effect and conflict adaptation reflect the ability of cognitive control.Therefore,the study of emotion's impact on conflict effect and conflict adaptation does help to explain the basical system of interaction of emotion and cognitive control.It is worth noting that the mood is a complex variable,and the way to induce has many kinds.As the result of the various inducement which produce emotion,the researchers reported contradictory results: some studies claimed negative emotion suppressed conflict adaptation,others found negative emotion facilitated conflict adaptation.Relative to the conflict adaptation,some studies find that positive emotion can produce stronger conflict effect than negative.However,many of this,just in behaviours.Hence,this research concludes three methods to induce emotion on the basis of the previous study,exploring the interaction of the emotion by two experiments,and make exploration on neural level.Experiment One adopt Emotional Faces-Emotional Words Stroop task(the variant of Stroop task)to explore conflict effect influenced by different emotional face.This way put the emotional stimulation into the task of cognitive conflict task.The subjects need to make key-press action to empress valence of emotional faces.The emotional faces could produce obvious emotional valence,and the emotional valence makes conflicts with valence of emotional words.The processing mechanism was used in earlier studies,however,previous experiments have shown that emotional words and emotional faces can produce emotional valence effect.Therefore,in order to reduce the effect of emotional valence induced emotional valence on the experiment,this experiment will use only two emotional words,frequently-used emotional words.Therefore,it can reflect that the emotional effect induced by emotional faces control the conflict.The result suggests the conflict effect of negative faces is much less than the conflict effect of positive faces,which coincides with the previous study.Furthermore,this research manages to explore the result of different emotional faces of different valence and the functional links of the encephalic regions.The brain activation shows that there is no difference between the activation of fusiform face area(FFA)in the same condition or different conditions under negative situation,while under positive situation,the activation of fusiform in different condition is more than the one in the same.Meanwhile,the psychophysiological interaction(PPI)shows that the functional coupling of the related encephalic region of cognitive control and the related encephalic region of face-processing under positive situation is stronger than it under negative situation.That negative face,the conflict in the region than the visual processing of brain FFA in earlier is solved,and the positive face conditions,conflict resolution requires more cognitive control brain areas involved in activities,adjust the visual processing regions of the brain and emotion processing brain regions.The Experiment Two via combining the pictures with the alphabet flanker task,putting emotion-processing and emotion-feeling in the research,to explore conflict effect and conflict adaptation influenced by negative and positive emotion.Based on the block design with an order of AB1B2 A,insert the same emotional picture in the blocks,B1B2-pictures in the two consecutive blocks are of the same nature,which will reflect the emotion-processing mainly in the early stage,and reflect emotion-feeling in the later stage.Taking this way does help in analyzing the effect of different blocks on the conflict adaptation.The result suggests that the interaction of sequences of blocks and conflict adaptation are obvious.When the emotion-processing may be dominant,the obvious inverted conflict adaptation happens(not only negative,but positive);when the emotion-feeling may be dominant,the obvious conflict adaptation happens(only negative).It is worthy of attention that apart from different emotional valence,cognitive control is also influenced by the next status of emotion(emotion-processing,emotion-feeling),which makes a big step in the study of the interaction of emotion and cognitive.In summary,two experiments in this study combines three different ways of emotion-inducing,to explore the impact of different emotion-inducing way on cognitive control.In general,positive emotion,emotion evoked by different ways of interaction between positive emotion and cognitive control had little effect,two experimental results consistent,positive emotions under the conflict effect is significant and conflict adaptation is inhibited;however,it is a significant way of emotion induced different effects on the interaction between negative emotion and cognitive control of the impact of this significant and specific performance difference to influence on the conflict in the negative emotion.
