Purpose: The experiment using event-related potentials(event-related potential,ERP)is to study the difference between criminals and innocent of old/new effects based on dual-process model of recognition memory and to detect criminals' processing mechanisms in the process of memory retrieval and awareness component of involvement in the memory testing process.Method: The experiment relies on "learning--recognition" memory paradigm and uses the Neuroscan 64 channel EEG recording and analysis systems to analyze.We selected 20 subjects and divided them into criminal group and innocent group for random.The criminal group was asked to simulate a criminal case and after that to take the recognition test which includes vocabulary judge task and recognize test task,respectively requirements was to judge Word/non-Word and words whether rendering had.The innocent group was asked to learn materials under different attention conditions and also to take the same test.Analysis and compare the main composition of ERP component of old/new effects evoked by recognition tests.Results: The behavioral data reflects that the accuracy of old words for criminal and innocent group are higher than that of the new words,when the old shorter words than new words.Regardless of the Group is innocent or criminal,the accuracy of shallow processing are higher than processing.ERP data shows that the criminal and innocent have clearly old/new effects at 300-500 ms and 500-800 ms.The performance of FN400 effects in criminal is the FCZ,FZ of frontal region,P3,PZ,P4 of the parietal region,OZ of occipital region;Innocent group perform in frontal FZ,F3,CP3 of the central region,O1,O2 of the occipital region.The parietal old/new effects of criminal group perform P1,PZ of the parietal region area,C5 of the central region,OZ,O2 of occipital region;Innocent group perform in F2,F3 of the frontal region,P3,POZ of the parietal region area,O1,O2,OZ of the occipital region.Compare criminal group with innocent groups two levels under the condition,there has been more negative waveforms with Visual evoked response in 170 ms,characterized by investing more attention resources.Conclusions: criminal data can be used to distinguish groups with innocent group as a reference index,reaction time is longer than an innocent group of subjects of the criminal.The FN400 old/new effects and parietal old/new effects have differences in brain activation between criminal group and innocent Group in the 300-500 ms and 500-800 ms times.Activation in brain regions can be differentiated as a criminal group and innocent of an indicator.Criminal group early stage in memory retrieval induced by Visual ERP components,different with the innocent group.
