| The creation of Yuan Jinmei’s novel is full of speculative thought and distinctive problem consciousness.This paper attempts to analyze Yuan’s novel creation on the basis of intensive reading of text.By adopting the theory of narratology combined with the related researches of history and sociology,this paper will explore the prominent theme of Yuan’s novel creation as well as narrative skills and her uniqueness in oversea Chinese literature.The first chapter focuses on the prominent theme of Yuan’s novel,which reflects Chinese culture by describing the humanity characteristics of modern Chinese.She strives to depict the characteristics such as servility,animality,unprincipled and so on of modern Chinese.It is believed that the formation of humanity characteristics is closely connected with Chinese traditional culture.Besides,the influence of the hierarchy,veneration of power and the manner of preferring human relations to legality are the key causes of the above problems.The second chapter shows the uniqueness of Yuan’s novel creation from the perspective of narrative skills.Her novel structure has a distinct speculative thought,which presents by the way of raising and solving issues.The involvement of narrator highlights the author’s viewpoints and strengthens the exposition.The contrast methods applied in the interior text highlight the author’s ability to connect the culture of oriental and occidental as well as ancient and modern,which has distinctive cultural and historic significance.The wit and humorous language make the novel full of wisdom and enhance the narrative effect.The third chapter reviews the significance and limitations of Yuan’s novel creation.Her reflection on modern Chinese humanity and culture reveals the critical spirit and responsibility consciousness of oversea intellectuals.Meanwhile,the unique narrative skills enrich the novel creation diversity.In conclusion,Yuan is not allowed to be neglected in the oversea Chinese literature. |
