The Study On The Thought Of Wei-hsun Fu's "Creative Hermeneutics"

Charles Wei-hsun Fu is a well-known contemporary ethnic Chinese philosophy who took the creative development of national culture as his task.He devoted in inheriting and developing Chinese traditional culture in a critical and creative way and made his own contribution to the modernity transformation of traditional culture.The thesis mainly study on Charles Wei-hsun Fu's thoughts of the “Creative Hermeneutics” and emphasizes on the part of its content and evaluation.The first part of the thesis analyzes the background and theoretical origin of the thoughts.In the seventh decade of last century,there were some doubts to Chinese philosophy in worldwide,as well as the“Theory of Confucianism revival” developed in domestic.In this background,Charles Wei-hsun Fu thought deeply about that how to explain traditional culture in a modern way to spread it out.As to theoretical origin,it rooted in language analysis,Heidegger and Gadamer's theory and Chinese traditional textology.The second part analyzes the main content of “Creative Hermeneutics”.It contains five dialectical level,which are: “What exactly did the original thinker or text say?”,“What exactly did the original thinker intend or mean to say?”,“What could the original thinker have said?”,“What should the original thinker have said?” and “What must the original thinker say now?”.From the first level to the fifth,it's a logical process.This theory filled a vacancy in Chinese methodology and also provided a probable trend of modern revitalization in Chinese traditional culture.The third part of this thesis analyzes the evaluation to the thoughts.“Creative Hermeneutics” got its own theory advantages,which are: creative “misreading”,general methodology,dialectical openness and the criticism to pan-moralism.Whereas its limitation are absence of subjective and objective balance in the process of Hermeneutics and value relativism tendency.Dr.Fu advocated the thought as a beneficial supplements to traditional culture,and the advice and principle it provided,like mutually explanation between China and western,full displaying subjective initiative and dialectical negation of traditional culture are all helpful to construct contemporary cultural values and the creative transformation and innovative development.Wei-hsun Fu's thoughts of the “Creative Hermeneutics” is a try to make up for the lack of high-level methodology in Chinese traditional culture and critically inheriting and creating the development of it,which is helpful to the development of Chinese modern culture.
