The Impact Of Future Orientation On Intertemporal Choice

Intertemporal choice is the act of weighing or comparing the results at different time points to make a choice.Is the pursuit of short-term economic development at the expense of the destruction of the ecological environment,or maintain the preservation of the ecological environment in order to seek long-term interests?In order to maintain a long-term good figure and reasonable diet or to meet the short-term dietary pleasure?Is the choice of riding the current or give up in front of the pleasure to study or work,in order to obtain greater achievements of the future?Adams,the father of modern economics,also pointed out in the "rich country theory" that the intertemporal choice not only affects a person's health,wealth and happiness,but also related to a country's economic prosperity.The intertemporal choice behavior is influenced by factors such as stress,situation,size effect,dynamic inconsistency effect and so on.In order to verify the intertemporal choice in the form of effect,investigation to obtain the similarities and differences of individual choice behavior between gains andlosses situation,and to explore the effects of different levels of future orientation under different conditions of individual intertemporal choice behavior.This study sorted out the ideas and progress of previous studies,Design three experiments layer by layer.The single factor experiment design,the two factor experiment design and the three factor mixed experimental design were used to verify the problems to be solved.The results showed that the time discount rate of the high future oriented subjects was significantly lower than that of the low prospective participants;for the low prospective group,the time discount rate in the context is significantly higher than that in the loss situation;the significantinteraction of the three factors,such as future orientation,time description and situation.Based on the results of this study,the author draws the following conclusions:1)In the process of individual intertemporal choice,there is a "formal effect" caused by the time frame.2)There is also a "form effect" in the situation of loss,and the result is different from the situation of obtaining.In the field of intertemporal choice,it is not easy to transfer the effect of the situation directly to the loss scenario.3)Low future orientation individuals choose more quick,and low in the future orientation of the individual,the different measurement scenarios to cause significant differences in discount rates only exist in the description of the intertemporal task unit to "year";"Form effect" exists only in the context of acquisition.4)The intertemporal choice is influenced by many factors,and the effects of different conditions are different.
